FACTS about Planning

It is never a good idea to take a trip to a new destination without a map or good directions, right? And if you plan a trip, you’ll probably never do that.

However, it is astounding how many business owners go full speed ahead into starting a business without even having a plan in mind, much less a map or an idea on how to get there.

That’s why so many businesses never make it.

In North America alone, 5 out of 10 new businesses fail within the first two years, and another 2 to 3 within the following five years.

Some business owners never make the connection between having a sound business plan and a successful business.

Some business owners don’t know that the Business Plan prepared for the bank, is what that is: for the Bank!

Some business owners let others do the writing, never making it their own road map and never seeing their plans coming to fruition.

Actually, they will let others do the writing and end up with a multi-page BOOK, that costs money that does not have a return on investment!  Not really a plan they can use.

Most plans if any at all, DO NOT plan for profit, yet that is the very reason for being in business!

And, for those who make it, many will realize the importance of good sound planning, yet often times will not be able to properly ‘implement’ their plans. Unfortunately, the ‘planning’ activity gets a bad name through the process.

Yet, strategic planning remains the priority and its absence is the main reason why projects and businesses fail, time after time.
